Jun 25. In yet the strongest indication that US air traffic has rebounded to pre-Pandemic levels, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced that it screened 2.45 million air passengers on Friday, June 24th, the highest daily number since February 11, 2020,  when the TSA screened nearly 2.51 million passengers.

The number was however below the 2.73 million screened on the same day in 2019. The high traffic was despite weather and staffing issues resulting in travel disruptions. On Friday, U.S. airlines canceled 711 flights and delayed more than 6,000, according to FlightAware yesterday.

On Friday, airline industry trade group Airlines for America (A4A) told U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg in a letter that staffing challenges were disrupting flights even in good weather.
