CDC Cruise Update: Eight Cruise Ships Approved to Offer Restricted Voyages

Read Time:50 Seconds

July 1. The CDC has now approved eight ships to do restricted cruises, up from two on June 3.

Since then, the agency has approved the Carnival Breeze, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Vista, Majestic Princess, Nieuw Amsterdam and Freedom of the Seas to operate revenue cruises. The Celebrity Edge and Equinox had already been approved. With the exception of the Freedom of the Seas, all of the ships have been approved without test sailings and will maintain vaccination levels of 95%.

The CDC calls approved revenue cruises “restricted voyages” because they operate under CDC return-to-service guidelines.

The CDC has also approved 11 ships to conduct simulated test sailings, with Bahamas Paradise Line’s Grand Classica, Royal Caribbean’s Odyssey of the Seas (which has provisional approval) and Oasis of the Seas, and the Disney Fantasy added to the list.

The Disney Dream, which had been approved for a test sailing, canceled the sailing and will reschedule it for sometime in July, pending approval.
