Today, July 9, 649 positive cases were registered, giving a total of infections of 6,485. The figure has grown exponentially since June 16, when more than 50 cases per day were recorded for the first time. The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, declared that there are cases that are not being detected, and he estimated that the real number of new cases could amount to a thousand cases. Also, he asked the population to respect the sanitary and social distancing measures to prevent the collapse of the health system. And the President of the Republic, Carlos Alvarado, informed that they will take restrictive measures to confront the crisis, which will be defined and informed shortly. Several hospitals are already preparing to face this situation. For example, San Juan de Dios, Hospital México, and Calderón Guardia are applying phase 2, which implies incorporating intermediate and intensive care beds.
