Despite the increase in infections during these last few weeks, the Dominican government confirmed that the entry of international tourists will be permitted as of next week. Currently, the country registers 28,631 infected, 16,006 recovered, and 691 deaths; And the number of infections increases week by week. For this reason, a sanitation protocol will be applied to airports, the hospitality industry, and all sectors related to tourism; Although the details of said protocol have not yet been published.
The Caribbean nation was to start phase 3 of the reopening on June 17, but due to the increase in the number of new cases, it has had to be postponed. Besides, while the use of face masks was already mandatory, those who do not respect the measure can now be fined from $172 to $ 1,724 American dollars.
