The measure was announced by the Minister of Transport and Public Infrastructure, Gabriel Martínez. It will take effect from July 7, that is to say that those who are scheduled to travel within Ecuador until June 6, inclusive, must still present the result of the coronavirus test. Said measure had been adopted as a result of the detection of positive cases in the route between Quito and Guayaquil, the two most populated districts of Ecuador.
The Galapagos Islands have approved a new protocol for tourists, which requires that the coronavirus test be performed no later than 96 hours prior to the trip, without the need to quarantine upon arrival, a measure that continues in force in the continental region. Either way, flights have not yet been scheduled. Avianca and LATAM airlines have not yet defined when they will restart flights to the islands, but everything would indicate that it would not be in July. Nationally, LATAM went from an average of 40 daily flights to 1 or 2 daily flights.
