Getting Your COVID-19 Test Result in the US Might Take Longer Than Expected

Read Time:34 Seconds

In most places in the US, people are able to get tested for COVID-19 very easily, but it could take a week or longer to receive the result as labs are working at full capacity. Today, the US is testing 725,000 people per day, but a survey conducted by a consortium of researchers at Rutgers, Northeastern, Northwestern, and Harvard universities, showed that 20% of people have to wait over 5 days to get the results and that 10% of the people have to wait over 10 days. Public health experts recommend that a test result should take no longer than 48 hours to be ready to aid effective contact tracing.
