Planning a vacation to a reopened Hawaii has proven quite difficult as that reopening date has been a moving target. Hawaii State officials had hoped to reopen the state on Aug. 1 to visitors with a negative PCR screening test for Covid-19, then it was moved to September 1, and again to October 1, and now to October 15, maybe.
While the state’s announced that its “pre-travel testing” program is scheduled to launch on October 15, several mayors have pushed back on the plan, instead of supporting a tougher approach of MANDATORY QUARANTINE FOR ALL ARRIVING VISITORS FOLLOWED BY RETESTING WHILE IN HAWAII.
Given Hawaii politics, it is likely that the reopening will be postponed yet again.
