March 24. Today, Iberia (Iberia Líneas Aéreas de España) announced its plans to restore 85% of 2019 summer levels. The airline placed its focus on destinations in the United States, adding new destinations and resuming operations to destinations serviced before the pandemic. Iberia will use a fleet of only Airbus aircraft on the routes from Europe to the US.
Over the past few years, international travel has taken a hit because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the current situation with Russia and Ukraine has made things a tad bit difficult. In its statement today, Iberia wrote, “If the current socio-political climate allows, this summer, Iberia will restore 85% of its 2019 capacity. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Spanish airline has decided to stimulate demand by offering the greatest possible number of flights and seats, and despite the currently troubled socio-political context, it has recovered almost its entire network of destinations while adding frequencies in markets where restrictions have been lifted as demand recovers.”
