The risk of coronavirus infection according to the federal government’s “traffic light” system changed from “high” orange to “medium” yellow light in nine states on Monday, prompting state authorities to alleviate at least some restrictions.

Ten of Mexico’s 32 states are now in the yellow state when Campeche made the change to that color on August 17.

According to a government report, the states of Chihuahua, Oaxaca, Campeche, Guerrero, Chiapas, Tlaxcala, Sonora, Tamaulipas and Veracruz relaxed some restrictions on Monday by moving to the “medium” risk level.

But the Tabasco authorities decided to postpone the change to the yellow light status until Monday of next week.
