Jun 20. The Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, Miguel Torruco Marqués, announced that, compared to other nations, Mexico shows an outstanding recovery in foreign exchange income, in the first quarter of 2022, since it is only 3.9%, of what which it registered in the same period of 2019, only below Turkey.
With information from the Barometer of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), corresponding to the first quarter of 2022, the head of the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur) also highlighted that our country is in second position in terms of recovery of tourist arrivals international, since it is only 22.6% of the arrivals of the period January-March 2019, only after Turkey.
Torruco Marqués pointed out that in 2021, foreign exchange income from international tourism reached 602 billion dollars, which is equivalent to a growth of 4.4% in real terms compared to 2020.
He reported that in the first quarter of 2022, the percentage variation of foreign exchange income from tourism in Mexico was 3.9% lower than the same period in 2019, while Turkey had an increase of 17.4%, and France is still 9.8% below.
