After two months of recess, Quintana Roo started receiving tourists again. 41 hotels all across the state of Quintana Roo – but especially in the cities of Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Puerto Morelos – have reopened on Monday and already received their first guests.
Roberto Cintrón Gómez, representative of the Hotels Association in the region, has announced that several flights have already begun to arrive to the International Airport of Cancun directly from the United States. And the hotels reported an increase in their bookings for the second half of June.
The president of the International Defender of Human Rights, Gerardo Solís Barreto, assured that it had been an act of negligence by the governor to change the measures “since it endangers the lives of citizens” and might not be able to reverse the consequences.
In Cancun, 800 restaurants have resumed their activities up to 30% of their capacity following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. Their staff has been trained in sanitary measures to prevent the spread of the virus. Nightclubs, casinos, and beaches remain closed.
