As the number of COVID-19 infections and deaths in the US continue to increase and especially because Florida and California are two of the states that are experiencing an important acceleration in the spread of the virus, the counties of Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, Monroe, and Los Angeles have announced the closure of their beaches during the July 4th weekend.
On Monday, July 29th, Los Angeles County announced 2,903 new cases, and the Florida Department of Health announced 5,266 new cases.
The US is the most severely affected country in the world with 5,590,000 confirmed cases and 126,000 deaths. The states with over a 100,000 reported cases are New York with 393,304; California with 223,646; New Jersey with 171,272; Texas with 156,706; Florida with 146,341; Illinois with 142,461; and Massachusetts with 108,768.
