The clinical study of the Covid-19 vaccines is about to begin in Panama.
This is the phase 2 trial of the vaccines from the German pharmaceutical company Curevac
Dr. Eduardo Ortega, advisor to the Vaccine Consortium, explains that the tests are ready to begin, that sometimes this type of study must be aligned with the other countries, which in this case is between Brazil, Peru and Panama. That in addition, the conditions of the pandemic have made the studies evolve to an adaptive process. That is to say that the studies begin and progress according to the previous results. The more than 2,200 volunteers who signed up for the tests are being evaluated, given a physical exam, and must comply with the informed consent to participate in the study conducted by the Covid-19 vaccine research consortium.
The Vice-Minister of Health, Ivette Berrío, explains that the consortium has presented the protocol of the vaccines, which are being studied in their last stage in Panama. The Ministry of Health evaluated and gave the go-ahead because they comply with all the steps.
