March 25. Iberia (IB) has been acknowledged as the ‘world’s most punctual airline,’ as reported by Cirium’s airline’s on-time performance report. This follows Iberia being nominated as Europe’s most punctual airline for 2022.
The airline’s operations totaled 13,327 movements for January this year, and within this, 86.8% of flights arrived on time. The criteria for the analysis is for the world’s top 10% of airlines based on available seat kilometers (ASK) and must operate in at least three regions.
As earlier reported by Simple Flying, airlines in Spain are almost at 100% of pre-covid capacity, and Iberia’s CEO, Javier Sánchez-Prieto acknowledged the carrier’s employees play a big part in delivering reliable on-time performance in a booming travel market.
With Iberia reaching 86.8% in on-time performance, its closest competition was Japan Airlines (JL), followed by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (KL).
