This week we had the pleasure of interviewing the lawyer and businessman Rafael Espino.
He currently works as General Director of the AMERIMED network of hospitals in Mexico and he informs us how the whole situation of COVID has changed the industry.
He informed us about the agreements that they had to sign with the Mexican association of private hospitals and the public sector to receive and treat social security patients so public sector can have more capacity and they can assist COVID patients.
It also indicates that different measures have had to be taken at Amerimed Hospitals since the Riviera Maya is one of the places where there have been the most outbreaks of infection.
People in Mexico shy away from going to a hospital because they feel that they are a contagion center. There have been deaths that could have been avoided by this aversion to go to the doctor. And then you see consulting doctors as their consultation has dropped to levels of 10% or 20%
Currently the intensive therapies in Cancun and Playa del Carmen are full of COVID patients and a special area has been set up in an isolated apartment for COVID patients also taking all precautions.
